Contrary to reports on some public media outlets, the show did open and run last Saturday, the weather can only be described as horrendous with thunder, lighting and what seemed gallons of rain which gave us some interesting natural water features in some of the marquees.
We did delay the start be 30 minutes, and also sadly had to stop vehicles coming onto the fields as we turned into the Stroud version of Glastonbury, but some stall holders made the effort and carried their gazebos and display items in by hand, some of the cattle had to be lead of the field also by hand which was a wonderful sight as we could not get the cattle trucks to the top of field.
A big thank you to all of out team of volunteers not only on show day, but before and the clear up on Sunday, also a very big thank you to the public who turned out in rotten weather to support us, and especially to BBC Radio Gloucestershire who were on site from early in the morning broadcasting updates and interviews, and Stroud News & Journal along with Stroud Life who had photographers on site all day.
Even after all the rotten weather we had, the "Stroud Spirit" continues and we are already planning the 2015 show which should be Saturday July 18th 2015, so a date for your diary please.
The plans for 2014 are well advanced, and going by the pitch bookings already, it's going to be great and full of interest.
The 2013 show was one of the best ever with increased members of the public taking advantage of the still FREE entry to the show site, and even the weather was on our side for not only show day but the setting up days as well, and many thanks to all out helpers who took part before the show with the build up and taking down of course.
Plans for the 2014 show are well under way, and apart from your old favourites, we hope to bring in this year new attractions for the family, so come along to Stratford Park on July 19th and enjoy the best Country Show in the area
It's FREE to get in - so come and join us!
